Graveside funeral services for Mark J. Varrasso, 68, of Newark, will be held privately with his family at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark, 12:30 P.M., Tuesday, July 21, 2026, with Deacon Patrick Wilson as celebrant. All are invited to attend the calling hours held at Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, from 10  A.M.-12 Noon, prior to the private family burial.

Mark was born in Newark, Ohio on April 3, 1958 to the late Joseph and Evelyn (Riffle) Varrasso. He passed away at Riverside Methodist Hospital on Monday, June 29, 2026, with family by his side.

He was a 1976 graduate from Newark High School and was owner and operator of Clean-Rite Building Services for 35 years.

Mark will always be remembered for his quick wit and his incredible sense of humor. He had a rare gift for bringing laughter into any room he walked into, a trait that endeared him to everyone who knew him. He was a loving father to his children and he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his loyal four-legged companion, Mutley.

Above all, Mark will be most remembered for his boundless passion for music and his immense talent on the bass guitar. His musical journey began at a young age, while playing guitar alongside his dad and brother. As an adult, Mark took that talent to the stage, playing in several bands throughout the local area. He deeply loved his bandmates, who were a second family to him. Playing music was truly the light of his life, and his rhythm will live on in the hearts of all who heard him play.

Mark will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, and his brother.

In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his sister, Laura J. Varrasso.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions in Mark’s name be made to the Licking County Humane Society.
