A Funeral Mass for Marie Elizabeth Doneff, 95, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 14, 2017 with Rev. G. Michael Gribble as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the church for one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Mrs. Doneff, a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, died at Sharonbrooke Senior Residence on Sunday, July 9, 2017. She was born in Corning, Ohio on October 20, 1921 to the late Jean and Catherine (Deime) Canale.

For many years, Marie and her family were the owner and operators of the Plantation Room Restaurant, formerly located in downtown Newark. She and Eddy were members of the local Elks Club and Moundbuilders Country Club where they loved to golf, dance and socialize. Marie was an avid seamstress and over the years created countless outfits and holiday costumes for her family. She enjoyed bingo, bowling and crocheting.

She is survived by her children, Carol Ann Doneff, Chris J. Doneff, John Doneff, and Vicki (John) Pressey; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother, William "Billy" Canale; sister-in-law, Margaret Canale, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. Doneff in 1960; her daughters-in-law, Elizabeth "Libby" Doneff and Ona Marshall; her siblings, Francis (Betty) Canale, Jack Canale, James (Ella May) Canale, Jean Ann Canale, Rita (Bob) English, Joseph Canale; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, C.J. (Valeria) Doneff; her brother-in-law, John L. Doneff and sister-in-law Marjorie (George) Socoloff and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Brooke at SharonBrooke and Hospice of Central Ohio for the loving care they gave Marie.
