Lee
Jan 16, 1933 — Mar 7, 2022
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Marianne Tanner Lee, 89, of Newark, will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 10 A.M., Thursday, March 17, 2022, with Msgr. Paul Enke as celebrant. Friends and family may call at the church for one hour prior to the funeral service. Inurnment will be held in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
A longtime parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, Marianne died on Monday, March 7, 2022. She was born in Newark, Ohio on January 16, 1933, to the late Ivan E. and Esther Marie (Schlingerman) Tanner.
Marianne retired in 1992 from the Eastland Macy's Department Store, formerly Lazarus, where she had many fond memories working in customer service. She was an active volunteer with the Midland Theater and loved to travel with The Freedom Years, often reminiscing on the trip to Africa as one of her favorites. She enjoyed playing cards with her many longtime friends and family, and listening to the musical stylings of Glenn Miller, Jackie Gleason, and Johnny Mathis. Her spunk and vivaciousness brought a smile to many faces.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Gregory S. (Darlene) Lee, Tina Marie (Tom) Conlin, and Michele Ann (Bob) Wolfe; 6 grandchildren, Matthew (Jessica), Hunter (Sarah), Cody, Bryce (Jordan), Cory (Molly), and Brooke (Cobin); 10 great-grandchildren, Carter, Irelynn, Makaylee, Rylee, Harlee, Bradley, Deakin, Brantley, Emiley, Elizabeth, and Brinleigh; sister, Kathleen (David) Brooker; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marianne was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick B. Lee; brother, William (Helga) Tanner; and sister, Sr. Gertrude "Trudy" Rose Tanner, O.P.
Memorials in Marianne's name can be made to St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or the Licking County Humane Society, 825 Thornwood Drive, Heath, OH 43056.
