Funeral services for Marguerite J. (Coleman) Strang, 84, formerly of Londonderry Lane, Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 12:30 P.M. Wednesday, December 17, 2014, with Msgr. Paul Enke as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Marguerite died Friday, December 12, 2014 at Parkside Healthcare Center, Columbiana, Ohio, where she had been a resident for the past two years. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on December 30, 1929, and moved to Zanesville with her parents, the late Fred and Anna (Sullivan) Coleman. She was a 1948 graduate of Lash High.
Marguerite had been a Newark resident most of her life. A member of St Edwards Catholic Church, she also enjoyed membership in the Elks, the Newark Garden Club, and the Newark Maennerchor, where she sang in the ladies section. Active in local political activities, Maggie was a member of the Licking County Republican Women's Club, and a poll worker for over twenty five years.
She is survived by her son Kevin (Joni) of Newark, and daughters Tabetha (Trevor) Rummel of Leetonia, Ohio and Darcinda (Brad) Reynolds of Lewis Center, Ohio, as well as eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Marguerite was preceded in death on July 25, 1990 by her husband, Robert K. Strang, whom she married, January 13, 1951.
Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 6-8 P.M., Tuesday, December 16, 2014, and for one hour prior to service on Wednesday.
