Obituary

A Funeral Mass for Margaret M. Murphy, 95, of Heath, will be held at St. Leonard Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Friday, August 25, 2017 with Rev. G. Michael Gribble as celebrant. Interment will follow in Welsh Hills Cemetery.

Margaret, a parishioner of St. Leonard Catholic Church, died at her residence at Chapel Grove on Monday, August 21, 2017. She was born in Hancock, Michigan to the late Gordon A. and Ethel (Funkey) McCurdy. She lived in Milwaukee, WI during her youth and graduated from Bayview High School in 1940. She married Eugene Murphy in 1944 in Washington, DC, eventually moving to the Newark-Granville area in 1969.

Margaret was a past member of the Newark-Granville Garden Clubs. She was also a member of the Antique Study Club, Monday Talks and Review Club. During her lifetime, she was an accomplished seamstress and water color artist. She also enjoyed playing bridge, knitting and gardening.

She is survived by her 3 children, Mary Margaret Gillespie, Kathleen Ann (Bruce) Jenny, and Dennis (Cheryl) Murphy; 7 grandchildren, Margaret, Rick, and Jason Gillespie, Brian, Karen and Steven Jenny, and Cory Murphy; 6 great-grandchildren, Elijah, Madison, Marin and Cole Gillespie, Morgan, McKenzie, Harper and Elliott Jenny.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Murphy in 2002; her sister, Jean Camey; and her brother, Robert McCurdy.

Friends and family may call from 4-7 P.M. Thursday, August 24, 2017 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 P.M.

Memorials in Margaret's name can be made to the Licking County Humane Society, 825 Thornwood Drive, Heath, Ohio 43056.
