Obituary

Margaret "Peggy" Louise Franks, 90, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, December 25, 2022.  She was born in Newark, Ohio on August 26, 1932, to the late Guy Edward and Mary Rosella (Noll) Hillis.

Peggy, a 1950 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School, was a lifelong parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where she volunteered with their Ministry of Comfort, was a former member of Parish Council, and was past-president of the St. Joseph Cemetery Board.

She will be greatly missed by her devoted husband of 70 years, Charles E. Franks; her children, Rev. Father Donald Edward Franks of Newark, Rosann M. Franks of Thornville, Annette Marie Franks (Dave Powers) of Columbus, John Charles Franks (Rebecca Hampton) of Newark; 6 grandchildren, Andrew, Bryan, Emily (Fredrik); and Zachary, Joshua, Cody, and their mother, Mary Franks; 8 great-grandchildren, Annie, Ellie, Leo, Rylee, Grayson, Josey, Presley, and Sutton; sisters, Norma Rauch and Ruth Fetter; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Michael Finlaw; brother, Donald Hillis; and brothers-in-law, Kenny Rauch and Thomas Fetter.

Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 1-3 P.M., Monday, January 2, 2023.  Private funeral services will follow for the family with Fr. Don Franks as celebrant.  Burial will be held at a later date in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark.
