A Funeral Mass for Margaret "Mac" Ann Campolo, 94, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 16, 2017, with Fr. Jonathan Wilson as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark. Friends and family may call at the church for one hour prior to the Funeral Mass on Wednesday.


Margaret died at Arlington Care Center on Wednesday, August 9, 2017. She was born in Newark, Ohio on December 2, 1922 to the late Charles P. and Giovanna (Passanite) Campolo.


Margaret was a lifelong parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament where she was a member of the Marian Club, worked on several parish picnic committees, and served on Parish Council during its early years.


She was a graduate of the Newark College of Commerce and attended the Miami-Jacobs College in Dayton and LaSalle Extension University. While in Dayton, Margaret worked as an executive secretary at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. After 5 years, she returned to Newark and was employed as Deputy Clerk, Licking County Probate Court, retiring in 1984 as the Chief Deputy Clerk.


For many years, Margaret worked with Catholic Social Services, served on the Board of Catholic Child Welfare Agency, worked with the Heart Drive, and was Past President of the National Secretaries Association. As Past President of the Business and Professional Women Club, Margaret was instrumental in helping to bring Goodwill Industries to Newark, and continually served on their Board. In 1967, Margaret was named the National Volunteer worker of the Year, presented by Goodwill Industries. Margaret was the first recipient in the Newark area to be presented with this award.


She is survived by her sister, Grace (Ronald) Donaldson, brother-in-law, Glenn J. Nossal; sisters-in-law, Lois and Maria Campolo; and many nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her 3 brothers, 7 sisters, 3 nephews, 1 great nephew, and 1 niece.
