After a short illness, and surrounded by his loved ones, Mack Joseph Perkowski, 76, raised in Kent, Ohio, and long-time resident of Newark, Ohio, passed away February 2, 2019, at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.

Mack was born May 30,1942, in Akron, Ohio. He was the son of the late Annie and Tony Perkowski. He was the second oldest of six siblings. On February 19, 1987, he married the love of his life, Gail.

Mack graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School, class of 1960.

He served in the United States Navy as a jet engine mechanic on the Lockheed P-2 Neptune and deployed as a mechanic and aircrew member during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. After his discharge, Mack worked in the dry-cleaning business, as a machinist for Gougler Industries, and Panther Transport. After retiring, Mack enjoyed spending time with his wife, family, and friends, as well as his 15 grandchildren and 10 nieces and 5 nephews. You could often find Mack sitting on the porch, or in the garage with his friends and neighbors. Another past time of Mack's was rescuing dogs and hosting "Camp Perkowski" in the summer for his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gail, siblings Regina (Pete) Vitucci, Valarie (Carl) Picelle, Jim Perkowski, and his 4 children: Gregg (Kelly) Perkowski (children, Loren, Megan, Christian Perkowski and Evan and Keon Dalziel), Shannon (Mike) Fortney (child Cameron), Shaun (Tiffiany) Perkowski (Luke, Juliana, Jacob, Daniel and Veronica) and Colleen (Doug) Henely (children Cullen and Callie Fisch, and Katie and Emmy Henely). Mack is survived by his mother-in-law Marjorie Leonard, sister-in-law Sue Guleff, her son Ivan, and brother-in-law Russ Vosper and his children Quintin and Avery, as well as his nieces and nephews. Mack is also survived by his furry children, Baxter, Barkley, Little Bit, and Max.

Mack was preceded in death by his sister Beverley (Harland) Lee, and brother Richard Perkowski.

At Mack's request, there will be no services. A celebration of life will be held May 25 ^th at his home that he loved. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, all donations please be made to the Great Plains Pointer Rescue, which can be found at www.greatpointers.org .
