Funeral services celebrating the life of Mable Joanne Hull, 88, of Newark, will be held at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 11 A.M., Tuesday, March 5, 2024, with Bishop Mark Bergstrom as celebrant. Interment will follow in Wilson Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral from 4-6 P.M., Monday, March 4, 2024.
Joanne, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died at Laurels of Heath on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. She was born in West Virginia on July 19, 1935, to the late Alton and Virginia (Shannon) Shannon.
A graduate of Newark High School, Joanne had worked at AT&T, Western Electric and Sears. In addition, she worked as a seamstress for many years alongside her husband, David, at Mound City Products and was owner and operator of The Book Nook. She was an incredible seamstress and quilter and spent years honing her craft.
Known for her personality and charisma, Joanne was a member of the Red Hat Society and was a world traveler, visiting all of the continents except Antarctica. Many of these travels were with the "Traveling Santa Clauses" which delivered gifts to children in need all over the world.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Sue Bieber; sister-in-law, Karen Heald; and nieces and nephews, Valarie Garza, Mike Phillips, Lisa Gebhart, Sally Balser, Jon Hull, Ann Wehrle, Mary Hull and Cathy Austin.
In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, James David Hull; daughter, Betsy M. Hull; son-in-law, Kirk Bieber; sister, Juanita Shannon; brothers-in-law, Gene Heald and Rodger (Carmen) Hull; and beloved canine companion "Sassy".
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joanne's name can be made to the Licking County Humane Society, 825 Thornwood Drive SW, Heath, Ohio 43056.
