A Mass of Christian Burial for Lucille Dandera Denman Crist, 94, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 16, 2025, with Fr. David Sizemore as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark.
Lucille died at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on Friday, April 11, 2025. She was born in Newark, Ohio on May 18, 1930, to the late Earl and Marie (Trubiano) Dandera.
Lucille was a 1948 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School. Following high school, she worked for a short time at Ohio Power prior to starting her family. While her children were of school age, Lucille volunteered in the school, often the cafeteria. She was also a volunteer at Starlight School, Meals on Wheels, Licking Memorial Hospital and was a member of the LMH Twig working the gift shop.
Lucille was a lifelong parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and member of the Ministry of Comfort. She was a devoted friend to many. Lucille was also a member of the Newark Garden Club. She loved to make people laugh and did so until her final days.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Julie McNulty and Gregory (Monica) Crist; grandchildren, Amy (John) Harter, Lori (Wesley) Frost, and Chase Smitley; great-grandchildren, Stella, Arden and Matilda Frost - who called her GG; sisters-in-law, Sue Vanoy, Mary Crist, and Lillian Crist; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her first husband, William Denman in 1958; second husband, Donald Crist in 1981; daughter, Deborah Denman Delgaudio in 2011; son-in-law, Randy McNulty in 2015; sister, Joann (Richard) Warthen in 2022; and longtime companion, John "Jack" Bickel.
Friends and family may call at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-7 P.M., Tuesday, April 15, 2025, with a Vigil Service held at 6:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Lucille's name can be made to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church; or Ohio Living Hospice.
