Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial for Louis Edward Rico, 77, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 11:30 A.M., Saturday, November 13, 2021, with Fr. David Sizemore as celebrant.

Lou died at The Inn at SharonBrooke in Newark on Thursday, September 23, 2021.  He was born in Newark, Ohio on February 29, 1944, to the late Louis C. and Roberta A. (Couden) Rico.

A 1962 graduate of Newark Catholic High School, Lou attended The Ohio State University and received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Wilmington College in 1967.  He worked for many years in the collection division of Dun & Bradstreet where he wrote and culminated credit reports.

He is survived by his first wife Nancy Rico and their children, Amy (Stephen) Faust and Christopher Rico, as well as his daughter, Jessica (Gabriel) Rivera with his second wife, Sarah Rico (deceased); his grandchildren, Emily, Evan, Gabriel, and Giselle; brother, Dave (Arleen) Rico; sister-in-law, Linda Rico; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Lou was preceded in death by his brother, Philip Rico.

Lou was an active parishioner at St. Francis de Sales Church in Newark where he assisted with their Ministry of Comfort and Bereavement.  He was involved with Active Retired Citizens (ARC).   He was an active member of Sons of Italy.  Lou loved riding his bike and was a passionate Ohio State fan.

Per his wishes, Lou donated his body to The Ohio State University Division of Anatomy. Friends and family are invited to honor Lou with a celebration of life to be held from 4-6 P.M., Friday November, 12 2021, at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark.  Due to COVID, the family requests for those in attendance to please wear a mask.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, Fl 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
