A Celebration of Life for Aurora Liza Carrizales, 44, of Newark, Ohio, will be held at a later date.  Liza passed away at her home on Saturday, October 16, 2021.  She was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 3, 1977, to Gumecindo "Mike" and Neomi Carrizales, both of Rossford, Ohio.

She was a 1995 graduate of Perrysburg High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Bowling Green State University.  Liza's desire to teach began at an early age, and was evident when she convinced her local library to employ her while she was in the 4 ^th grade.  Early in her career, Liza worked as a substitute teacher at various schools, spending much of this time with Eastwood High School, Luckey, Ohio.  Currently, Liza was a Kindergarten teacher at Legend Elementary and had been with Newark City Schools for over 20 years.

As an avid soccer fan, Liza shared her enthusiasm for the sport with many young girls as she coached various teams over the years.  As the current Soccer Coach at Newark High School, Liza was elated to celebrate their recent OCC League Championship win.

Known for her infectious smile, Liza embodied a laugh that was often described as contagious.  She was dedicated to her students, family, and friends.  Liza was a doting aunt who took advantage of the quality time she was able to spend with her niece and nephew.  She held a great love for them and enjoyed sharing new things with them, often taking them on great adventures.

In addition to her parents, Liza is survived by her brother, Michael (Christine) Carrizales; her niece and nephew, Reese and Chase; her aunt, Ruth (John, dec. ) Yglesias, longtime friend, Joaquin Quintero; and her faithful canine companion, Boss.  She is also survived by the many students she taught over the years who have become her extended family.  Her spunk and vitality will be missed by many.
