Funeral services celebrating the life of Linda A. Woolard, 83, of Newark, will be held at Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 11 A.M., Tuesday, April 1, 2025, with Deacon Patrick Wilson as celebrant. Interment will follow in Wilson Cemetery.
Linda, a parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, passed away at The Ohio State University Medical Center on Monday, March 24, 2025. She was born in Newark, Ohio on February 1, 1942, to the late Bryan and Nellie (Litzinger) Woolard.
A graduate of Newark High School, Linda attended the American Institute of Banking and started her 25-year banking career with Newark Trust Company and became the first female branch manager in Licking County.
Linda took a 2-year sabbatical from banking and worked as a journalist/photographer at the Licking Countian Newspaper/The Good News Newspaper. She was recognized by the Ohio National Guard as a top ten reporter in Ohio for her coverage of guard training at Camp Grayling, Michigan. She also received an award from KINSA for one of her submitted photos, placing 5th in the world.
She finished her professional career serving 18 years as manager of the Credit Bureau Services of Newark, a division of CBC Columbus.
In 2006 Linda converted to Catholicism and was very devoted to her faith. She became greatly involved with the local parishes and led may senior social events and outings, creating "Happy Trails with Linda" which offered guided bus tours and excursions. As an adventurer in life, Linda loved traveling, learning different cultures, and inspiring others to travel with her. She was nominated for Catholic Woman of the Year and received the Mother Theresa Award in 2017.
She is survived by her siblings, Sandra L. Woolard, James R. (Nancy) Woolard, and Mary Lou Fetter; and her nieces and nephews, Martin Woolard, Jason (Alyssa) Woolard, Mark Fetter (Lelsie Lenzo), Jeff (Kelly) Fetter, Traci (Matt) Priest, Bryan (Jessica) Woolard, and Terra (David) Branstool.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Bryan L. Woolard.
