Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial for Leona Faye Egan, 94, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 11 A.M, Friday, September 2, 2022, with Fr. David Sizemore as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Faye, a 1945 graduate of Newark High School, passed peacefully at SharonBrooke Senior Residence, surrounded by the love of her family, on Friday, August 26, 2022.  She was born in Marietta, Ohio on August 29, 1927, to the late Edward H. and Willie M. (Pruitt) Rogers.

Faye worked for a short time at the Newark Stove Company, prior to meeting her future husband, Jim, at the Moonlight Gardens, Buckeye Lake They were married in 1950 and started their family.

As a mother, Faye was devoted to her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was an avid volunteer at both St. Francis de Sales Elementary and Newark Catholic High School.  She was a member of the Alpha Phi Sigma Sorority for over 70 years, as well as the Newark Elks 391 Auxiliary.  For many years, Faye participated in several bridge clubs, and greatly enjoyed the time she spent playing BINGO with her friends.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Diane Egan Young, Debra (Kenneth) Roberts, and Michael D. (Camilla) Egan; 8 grandchildren, Ashley (Jim) Winters, Danielle Beard, Brandon (Trish) Roberts, Bradley (Megan) Roberts, Kelly (Brent) Diley, Kristin Egan, Mackenzie Egan, and Brittany Egan; 8 great-grandchildren, Kenley, Aubrey, Bentley, Kennedy, Deklan, Xavier, Nolan,  and Barrett; and nieces and nephews, Joyce (Ray) Schuyler, Gary (Patsy) Love, Kathy Egan, Patricia (Ken) Robideaux, and their families.

In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Egan; her daughter, Kimberly S. Egan; and siblings, Juanita (Ronald "Curly") Presgraves, Dorothy Love, Doris Rogers, and Eddie (Nola) Rogers.

The family requests memorials to the Newark Catholic High School Foundation, 1 Green Wave Drive, Newark; or Newark Elks Lodge 391, P.O. Box 280, Newark, Ohio 43058.

Friends and family may call from 6-8 P.M., Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 P.M.
