Obituary

Funeral services celebrating the life of Laura M. (Glasmeier) Hughes, 58, of Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 11 A.M. Thursday, November 10, 2022, with Fr. Anthony Lonzo as celebrant.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Laura passed away at Riverside Hospital on Saturday, November 5, 2022. She was born a twin (Baby "B") in Newark, Ohio on December 8, 1963, to Mary Ann (Molnar) McMannis, of Newark, and the late Keith Glasmeier.

A 1983 graduate of Newark High School, Laura was employed at Newark Kroger (21 st St.), and had also worked at State Farm Insurance.  She enjoyed going to craft shows and listening to country music, especially Travis Tritt. She liked to dine out, Nutcracker Restaurant and Roscoe Village were her favorite places to visit. Above all, spending time with her daughter, Kailey, was the thing that brought her the most joy.

Laura was a giving person, and always thought of others above herself. She will be greatly missed by her mother and step-father, Mary Ann (Max) McMannis; husband, Mike Cain, daughter, Kailey (Craig) Carver; step-sons, Bryan, Clayton, Brandon, Collin and their families; sister, Michele (Carl) Keller; twin sister, Lisa Glasmeier (Baby "A"); step-sisters, Mary Dee Kemp and Jeanna Alban; niece Natasha (Chris) Sherman; honorary sister, Amy Carson, honorary daughters, Erica Stout and Misha Dillon, aunts, Teresa Stidham, Sandy Glasmeier, and Joyce Wyde, several cousins, extended nieces and nephews; and her beloved cats, Izzy, Meesha, and Loki.

In addition to her father, Laura was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Gabor & Agnes Molnar; paternal grandparents, Herman & Hazel Glasmeier; step-sister, Neva (McMannis) Acuff; brother-in-law, Gary Keller; former husband, Jim Hughes; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 4-7 P.M., Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Laura's name be made to Star's Cat Connections or Kayla's Kitties.
