Funeral services celebrating the life of Larry Lee Iden, 79, of Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark; 8 P.M, Friday, April 21, 2023, with Rev. Chad Penhorwood as celebrant. Friends and family call at the funeral home from 6-8 P.M., prior to the service.

Larry, a member of Central Christian Church, died at his home on Friday, April 14, 2023. He was born in Newark, Ohio on January 27, 1944, to the late Frederick D. and Hilda (Gill) Iden.

A 1961 graduate of Licking Valley High School, Larry attended Kentucky Christian College and studied Theology and Ministry. As a man of faith, Larry served locally as a minister and was often heard proclaiming "Bless Your Heart". In addition, Larry worked for many years in maintenance and grounds for Newark City Schools, and following retirement, he worked at Courtesy Ambulance in funeral livery and ambulance assist.

He enjoyed reading and rooting for The Ohio State Buckeyes. Larry was also an avid fisherman and hunter, earning the title of "one-shot Iden". He was devoted to his wife, Betty Lou, and enjoyed sharing breakfast with her at Tee Jaye's.

Larry will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Betty Lou (Cass) Iden, whom he married on June 8, 1963. He is also survived by his daughter, Krista (Gerald) Obi; grandchildren, Cynamon, Dyamond, Kasmyn, and Danya; great-grandchildren, Austin, Gavin, Marley Grace, Kasmyn, Keyonté, Kalli, Natalie, and Carmen; his brother, Ronald (Carolyn) Iden; sister-in-law, Gerri Cass; longtime family friend, Bruce Kurtz; numerous cousins, and nieces and nephews.

The family requests memorials in Larry's name be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, Ohio 43055.
