Kenneth E. Carney, 75, of Granville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, at The Inn at SharonBrooke, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born April 17, 1950, in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, Ken was the son of the late Edward Earl Carney and Clara Edna (Speer) Carney Hufnagel. He grew up alongside his sister, Kendra Carney-Anderl, forming the foundation of a life centered on family, curiosity, and quiet determination.

Ken devoted nearly 45 years to a remarkable career with Owens Corning, where he was widely respected as a technical leader, mentor, and innovator. Beginning in 1974 as a young engineer with a physics degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in environmental science from the University of Florida, and a lifelong love of the Pittsburgh Steelers, he became a driving force in environmental and manufacturing technology across the organization.

Over the decades, Ken helped shape company strategy in waste, water, and air treatment systems, leaving a lasting imprint on manufacturing facilities around the world. His work led to multiple patents in regenerative thermal oxidation and noise control, as well as numerous technical publications and internal reports that advanced the company’s scientific understanding across disciplines. His influence could be seen—and felt—across more than 70 global sites, where the systems he helped design continue to operate every day.

A deeply respected leader and colleague, Ken played a pivotal role in plant startups, compliance efforts, and complex problem-solving. Equally impactful was his commitment to developing others, generously sharing his knowledge and guiding those around him. Remembered for his wit, curiosity, and genuine care for people, Ken’s legacy lives on in both the innovations he championed and the many lives he influenced.

Ken embraced life with a spirit of adventure and deep appreciation for the world around him. His work took him across the globe—from Taiwan and China to South Africa, Mexico, Canada, and Belgium—but some of his most cherished moments were found in nature, especially hiking in Glacier National Park. An accomplished welding artist, Ken’s creativity lives on in the numerous metal sculptures displayed throughout his woods. A natural problem-solver, Ken was remarkably handy and never met a project he was afraid to tackle. He and his wife, Lisa, shared a deep love of travel, spending many glorious days together on beaches, sipping wine, and happily discussing endless topics.

At home, Ken’s greatest joy was his family. He is lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend, Lisa Ford-Carney; He was profoundly proud of his cherished daughter, Dr. Jennifer Owen (Jeff); and his treasured bonus children, Rachel (Rushing) Marchette, Kylie Lusk, Mason Ford, and Chandlar Jane Bramlette. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Paxton, Evie, and Sterling Owen; Hudson, Vivienne, and Genevieve Marchette; Mariah Milici; and Ruby Faye Bramlette. He also leaves behind his loyal little companion, Minny, who rarely left his side.

Ken fought a long and courageous battle with interstitial lung disease and pulmonary fibrosis, exhibiting the same quiet strength and resilience that defined his life.

He will be remembered not only for his intellect and professional achievements, but for his humility, humor, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. His life stands as a testament to curiosity, integrity, and a deep commitment to making both people and the world better.

A life well lived, a legacy well earned, and a man deeply loved.
