Kathy Ann Simons, 63, of Newark, died at Arlington Care Center on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. She was born in Newark, Ohio on October 5, 1960, to the late John and Ella (DiCola) Simons.

A 1979 graduate of Newark High School, Kathy worked for the City of Newark as a clerk with the municipal court and probation offices. She also worked 10 years at Elm's Pizza, making friendships with their many regular customers.

Kathy enjoyed visiting the beaches of Florida and liked to watch for dolphins. She was devoted to her son and cherished her grandchildren. She was a hard-working, loving mother and her loyalty to family was evident in her daily actions.

She will be greatly missed by her son, Josh Simon; grandchildren, Caden John, Paige Nicole, and Gianna Ella-Marie Simons; siblings, Kim (Bill) Englefield, Ken (Cindy) Simons, and Kevin (Regina) Simons; brother-in-law, Jesse Pickering; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her sister, Judith M. Pickering; and the mother of her grandchildren, Staci Nicole Carpenter.

Calling hours celebrating the life of Kathy will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 2-4 P.M., Sunday, January 28, 2024.

The family of Kathy would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and special thanks to The OSU James Cancer Hospital; Hospice of Central Ohio, especially their caregivers, Gail, Melanie, and Victoria; and dear friends who offered care and transportation, Joyce, Becky, cousin, Craig, and sister-in-law, Cindy.
