Private graveside services celebrating the life of Kathryn E. Merrill, 74, of Newark, were held at Fredonia Cemetery with Chaplain Cory Campbell as celebrant.

Kathryn died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Monday, September 8, 2025.  She was born in Newark, Ohio on November 24, 1950, to the late Woodrow and Georgia (Roberts) Rose.

A member of the Utica High School Class of 1969, Kathryn attended the 3-B School of Beauty and operated her own salon, Essence of Beauty, for many years. She enjoyed crafting in her free time, especially working on scrapbooks.

She is survived by her children, Troy (Jennifer) Merrill and Stephanie Merrill (Mike Irvine); 3 grandchildren, Jordan Wolfe, Mercedes (Tyler) Wilson, and Madison (Dakota) Young; 4 great-grandchildren, Bentleigh, Cooper, Larkin, and River; sister, Gloria Winegardner; brother-in-law, Buster Robinson; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; siblings, Wayne (Jeanette) Rose, Sandy (Jack) Mossman, Steve Rose, Thomas Rose, and Shirley Robinson; and brother-in-law, Clyde Winegardner.
