A Mass of Christian Burial for Karen Patricia Addy, 67, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Thursday, March 27, 2025, with Fr. Anthony Lonzo as celebrant and Fr. Jonathan Wilson as concelebrant.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark.

Karen died peacefully in her daughter's home, surround by the love of her grandchildren, on Sunday, March 9, 2025. She was born in Newark, Ohio on May 10, 1957, to the late Eugene A. and Elizabeth "Betty" Jean (Glaub) Ridenbaugh.

A 1975 Newark High School graduate, Karen completed studies at COTC in radiology and studied for a year at the Arizona Heart Institute.

Karen was a very devoted parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament where she served as parish sacristan for 30+ years. Over this time, she attended and participated in many courses sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Columbus. Her commitment to the Catholic faith was truly an inspiration for many and the hours she dedicated with her time and talent are too plentiful to count.  It is for these efforts that Karen was presented with the St. John Bosco Award.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Katie Patricia (Jeffrey) Froula; 4 grandchildren, Athanasius Gregory, Levi Simeon, Felix Josef, and Josephine Patricia Froula; her siblings, Tim Alan (Edna) Ridenbaugh, Mark David (Dorothy) Ridenbaugh, Thomas Andrew Ridenbaugh, and John Brian (Alison) Ridenbaugh; her nieces and nephews, Kevin (Amber) Ridenbaugh, Adam Ridenbaugh, Sara (Tanner) Taylor, Roman, Magdalene, JohnPaul, Augustine, and Michael Ridenbaugh, Amanda (Neil) Hoyng, and Heidi (Eric) Finley; her great nieces and nephews, Kaleb and Khloe Ridenbaugh, Adam Junior and Aaron Ridenbaugh, Jett and Ty Taylor, and Guinevere Hoyng; her aunts, Theresa Ehret of Georgia and Rita Rector of Newark; and many cousins.  Karen is also survived by the countless Blessed Sacrament and Newark Catholic Students that became her spiritual children over the years.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her sons, Joshua Parker Addy and Luke Patrick Addy; brother, Michael Eugene Ridenbaugh; sister-in-law, Kathy Ridenbaugh; niece, Agnes Ridenbaugh; and grandson, Dominic Thomas Froula.

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be sung at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 3 P.M., Wednesday, March 26, 2025, led by Deacon Patrick Wilson. Calling hours will immediately follow and conclude with a Vigil Service at 6 P.M. All are welcome.

It was a firm request of Karen's that no flowers be sent for services, but to please make all donations in her memory to the Blessed Sacrament Sacristy Fund to be used for the purchase of altar linens and vestments.
