Obituary

Private graveside services celebrating the life of Julia Ann "Julie" Riley, 80, of Newark, will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with Fr. Anish Thomas as celebrant.

Julie, a member of St. Francis de Sales Church, died at Danbury Woods of Cuyahoga Falls on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.  She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on March 29, 1945, to the late William R. and Ann E. (Weidner) Craig.

A graduate of Newark Catholic High School and Denison University, Julie served as a nurse for many years, both at Licking Memorial Hospital and in the office of Dr. Reed.

She is survived by her children, Raejene Riley (Toni Poncebaker); David Michael Riley II; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Riley; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Tyler, Zachary, and Cooper; sister, Dorothy (George) Hatfield and sister-in-law, Gail (Michael) Craig; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Julie was preceded in death by her husband, David Michael Riley Sr.; and her brother, Michael Craig.
