A Funeral Mass for Judith K. Elk, 73, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 8:30 A.M., Saturday, November 29, 2014, with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark.

Judith, a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio on Tuesday, November 25, 2014. She was born in Newark, Ohio on May 13, 1941 to the late Charles A. and Pauline (Summers) Wirick.

Judith worked with her husband for many years at Elk's Auto and helped manage First Impressions Hair Salon and several area rental properties. She was a great cook, and enjoyed spending time outdoors working in her garden and taking daily walks. Judith also enjoyed decorating her home and shopping.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Thomas Elk, of the home; her children, Tom Elk, David (Linda) Elk, Christine Elk, and John Elk; grandchildren, Dustin Elk, Angel Oliver, Tara Noblick, Katrina Rodriquez, DJ Noblick, Elisa Nethers, Saundra Elk, and John Elk; 11 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Reginald (Helen) Wirick, Patrick (Evelyn) Wirick; her sisters, Mary Lou Snoor, Charlotte Moore, and Nancy (John) Trapp; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Judith was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Jeramiah Nethers; brother, Chuck Wirick; sisters, Carolyn Brand and Lila Hatem; and brothers-in-law, Richard Snoor and Kenny Moore.

Friends and family may call from 4-7 P.M., Friday, November 28, 2014 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 P.M.

The family requests that memorials be made to St. Vincent dePaul or the American Cancer Society.
