Joseph Wiley

A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph Wiley, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 12 Noon, Wednesday, May 27, 2026, with Fr. Anish Thomas as celebrant. Friends and family may call at the church for one hour prior to the Mass. Military honors will be provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Joseph, a United States Army Veteran, died at his residence on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. He was born in Branchland, West Virginia on August 16, 1941 to the late Sol and Maude (Vance) Wiley. Joseph attended Guyan Valley High School and Central Ohio Technical College. He retired from Resinoid Engineering after 44 years of service in various roles, including janitorial, purchasing, quality control, and order supply. In his spare time, Joseph enjoyed fishing and operating fishing boats known as “Wiley Charters.” He also enjoyed spending time with his children, watching sports, gardening, apple pies, tinkering around the house, and fixing things with “duct tape and wire.”

Joseph will be greatly missed by his daughter, Jenny Hall; sons, Joe (Jeni) Wiley and Todd Wiley; brothers, Irvan (Judy) Wiley and Richard (Lesta) Wiley; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and special family friends Patty Flores and Sue Weiland.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Sharon; daughter, Sharon Thompson; son-in-law, Gary Hall; siblings, Leonard (Pearl) Wiley, Gertrude Wiley, Annie (Oakie) Miller, Jonathan Wiley, and Moses (Lizan) Wiley, Ellen (Roy) Courts, William Wiley, and dear friend Larry (Kathy) Miceli.
