Memorial Services with military honors celebrating the life of Joseph Vernon Hall II, 63, of Newark, will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery later this spring.
Joe died at the SharonBrooke Senior Living Center on Friday, November 3, 2017. He was born in Newark, Ohio on March 2, 1954 to the late Joseph Vernon and Mary Jane (Deyo) Hall.
Joe attended Newark High School and was a 1972 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. Athletic by nature, Joe participated on several sport teams, but playing under Coach Paul "Hoss" Starr was one of his most memorable.
Following high school, Joe served with both the United States Air Force and Army. During his enlistment, Joe trained with the military police and became certified as a canine handler, a service he was much honored to provide. For many years he spoke fondly of the time he spent overseas, especially his tenure in Italy.
Upon his return, Joe continued his studies and became an officer with the Newark City Police Department. In his spare time, Joe liked to tinker with cars, and spend time with his beloved dogs.
He is survived by his son, Nathan (Rita) and their children Trinity and Noble; step-son, David (Eunbin); his siblings, James (Dianne) Hall, Mike (Kathy) Hall, and Judy (Ted) Williams; longtime family friend and former wife, Kim Hudson; and several nieces and nephews.
