Joseph F. Ehlermann's Obituary
A Funeral Mass for Joseph F. Ehlermann, 82, of Heath, will be held at St. Leonard Catholic Church, 57 Dorsey Mill Rd., Heath, 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 2, 2015 with Fr. William Hritsko as celebrant.
Joseph, a United States Navy Veteran, was born in Newark, Ohio on January 21, 1933 to the late Adolph and Mary (Kulp) Ehlermann. He died at his home on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, and according to his wishes, his body was donated to The Ohio State University Division of Anatomy.
Joseph was a St. Francis de Sales High School graduate and parishioner of St. Leonard Catholic Church. Following his time in the Navy, Joseph worked for the Frito Lay Company and was owner and operator of the Party House Carryout, and eventually purchased the Paul's Potato Chip Co. Joseph was also the resident manager for Apple Orchard and Brookside Apartments for over 20 years.
Joseph enjoyed fishing and hunting for mushrooms. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and attending the many events of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters, Julie (Dana) Hopkins, Karen Burchard, Barb (Kevin) Bradford, Mary Jane Ehlermann and their mother, Dorothy (Welch) Ehlermann; his son, Tim Ehlermann and his mother, Ruth (Board) Ehlermann; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister Agnes O'Reilly of Newark; his brother-in-law, Fred Smith; his sister-in-laws, Donna Ehlermann and Rose Ehlermann, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special family friends, Susan McBroom and The Kennedy Company: Jim, Frank, Jenny, and Jason.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred, Gustave, and Paul Ehlermann; and his sisters, Mary Lusk, Helen Smith, Teresa Hickman, and Rose Ogle.
Friends and family may call from 2-5 P.M., Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Central Ohio Arthritis Foundation, 3740 Ridge Mill Drive, Hilliard, OH 43026; or the American Heart Association, Central Ohio Chapter, 5455 N. High Street, Columbus, OH 43214.
