A gathering for family and friends of Jose Elkin Villa, 72, of Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 5-7 P.M., this upcoming Friday, June 24, 2016, with a Vigil Service held at 6:30 P.M.. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., next Saturday, July 2, 2016 with Fr. Jonathan Wilson as celebrant. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Colombia.
Jose, a parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, died unexpectedly in Hackensack, New Jersey on Saturday, June 18, 2016. He was born in Caicedonia, Colombia on August 12, 1943 to the late Felix and Anna (Velez) Villa.
Jose was retired from RR Donnelley where he worked as a press operator for many years. He was a happy man who found much joy in listening to music, rooting for his favorite soccer team, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Jose was also a generous man, lending help where needed. He embodied a great sense of humor and loved to joke around with his fellow YMCA Silver Sneakers.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Maria Cecilia (Ospina) Villa; his son, Mauricio (Korinne) Villa; grandchildren, Anthony and Liliana; sister, Alba Villa Montoya; mother-in-law, Gilma Ospina; several nieces and nephews; 6 sisters-in-law, 1 brother-in-law; and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Jose was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel, Edwardo, and Ablerto; sister, Maria; and father-in-law, Ramiro Ospina.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Blessed Sacrament Restoration Fund, 394 East Main Street, Newark, Ohio 43055.
