Funeral services celebrating the life of Johnie Jardine, 94, of Newark, will be held at REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 10 A.M., Saturday, May 11, 2024, with Chaplain Dave Mason as celebrant. Calling will be held at the funeral home, 5-7 P.M., Friday, May 10, 2024, and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment in Hanover Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance, will immediately follow services.

Johnie died at Mt. Carmel East Hospital on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. He was born in Grafton, West Virginia on December 30, 1929, to the late John and Lila (Poling) Jardine.

A United States Army Korean War Veteran, Johnie worked with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18 and served as their business representative prior to his retirement.

Johnie loved to visit local restaurants and was a "foodie" long before the term became popular. He enjoyed cars, playing cards, (especially poker), and was an avid gardener. Johnie cherished the time spent with his family, whether it be square dancing with his wife, or using daily tasks to teach lifelong lessons to his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and family friends.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Donna (Yeager) Jardine; his sons, Rodney (Nancy) Waters and Larry (Becky) Jardine; daughter-in-law, Debbie Waters; 7 grandchildren; 7 great- grandchildren; brother, James Robert Jardine; sister, Juanita (Everett) Krause; sister-in-law, Donna Jardine, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Johnie was preceded in death by his son, Donald Waters; and brothers, Gerald Jardine and Larry Jardine.
