Wolfle
Dec 9, 1937 — Sep 26, 2025
Nashport
John Raymond Wolfle passed away peacefully at home on September 26, 2025 with his wife Marcella by his side. He is now in our Lord's home.
John was born in Newark, OH on Dec. 9, 1937 to the late Raymond and Luella (Rogers) Wolfle. He attended Newark City Schools, playing football there. John was also an Army Veteran who shared that his time at Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia was the best time of his life. He had a great work ethic that was instilled in all 5 of his children, and he worked hard for Big Bear, Buckeye Linen, and Licking Memorial Hospital.
John loved fishing, baseball, football (OSU Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns), and basketball. He also loved antique radios and had a collection of them, as well as a collection of miniature radios. He enjoyed listening to football games on Friday nights and listening to his scanner. He also loved ice cream at night, and listening to the radio music countdown on Sundays. John's lifelong hero was his Uncle William Wolfle, who died in Paris at 19 years old in World War II.
John was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Wolfle; and sisters, Rosemary Wolfle and Shirley Carico. He was also preceded in death by his beloved son, Robert Eugene Wolfle, who passed away on June 25, 2023.
John leaves behind his wife, Marcella (Brennan) Wolfle; sons, Richard Wolfle (Sue Saul), Timothy (Kathy) Wolfle, and Brad (Kristin) Wolfle; daughter-in-law, Katie Wolfle; daughter, Mary (Mark) Bruns; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family's heartfelt thanks are extended to John's Hospice nurses, Liz and Audra, who are very special and provided care and comfort compassionately.
A private celebration of life will be held at a future date.
