Funeral services for John O. Cordle Jr., 69, of Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 6, 2015 with Pastor Shawn Morris as celebrant. Interment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.

John died at Grant Medical Center on Monday, March 2, 2015. He was born in Lancaster, Ohio on October 27, 1945 to the late John O. Sr. and Anna V. (Allen) Cordle.

John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved bowling, hunting, fishing, boating and his family vacations. He also tinkered in his garage and would be the first to offer his help when needed by family and friends. He was retired from Rockwell International and worked at Valley Bowling Alley in Newark during his part time retirement years.

John will be sadly missed by his wife of 42 years, Carol (Collins) Cordle; his children, Faith (Rick) Lehman, Rodney Cordle, and Diane (Chris) Frye; his grandchildren, Ashley Lehman, Kimberly (Jared) Heck, Jaclyn Lehman (Aaron Howell), Kellie Cordle (Jeff Bush), Matthew Cordle, and Ethan Frye; his great-granddaughter, Kalynn Kleckler; his sisters, Barb Hufford, Joyce Cost, Connie (George Sr.) Minton, and Pam (Walt) Weisgerber; his brother, Mike (Kathy) Cordle; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Benny Hufford, Steve Cost and Earl Marshall.

Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M, Thursday, March 5, 2015.
