A Mass of Christian Burial for Jocelyn Elaine Diklich Standley, 58, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Thursday, May 29, 2025, with Fr. Jonathan Wilson as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark.

Jocelyn died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center on Thursday, May 22, 2025. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on February 13, 1967, to Richard and Helen (Aikins) Diklich.

Jocelyn had a full career as a professional musician playing the French horn in many local orchestras and small ensembles. She was a graduate of Liberty High School, Missouri, and received her BA in Music from the University of Illinois. Jocelyn completed her Masters in Music at the Cleveland Institute of Music and her PhD in French Horn Performance from the Stony Brook University, New York. She was awarded the Fulbright Scholarship, studying in France for a year.

In addition to her musical accomplishments, Jocelyn enjoyed reading and was an exceptional cook. She dabbled as a small farmer and brought many a laugh to others with her wit and observant commentary.

In addition to her parents, Jocelyn is survived by her four children, Avery, Forrest, Rosemary, and Lucas; her sister, Jennifer (Tim) O'Brien; niece and nephew, Rosie and Adam; and many fellow musical colleagues.

Jocelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Standley.

Calling hours will be held at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark Ohio, 5-8 P.M., Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
