A Funeral Mass for Joann Mercuri, 92, of Medina and formerly of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, June 21, 2016 with Fr. Thomas Kamau as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Joann went home to be with our dear Lord on Friday, June 3, 2016. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on October 3, 1923, the youngest of nine children, to Anthony and Magdalena (Delligotto) Bokeno.
Joann lived the majority of her life in Newark where she was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and active with the Fruit of the Vine Ministry. In 1996, she moved to Medina to live with her daughter. She was gentle, sweet, kind and loving. Words cannot begin to describe how she lived her life. Joann loved her faith, family, and was a very devoted grandmother.
She will be greatly missed by her son James Mercuri Jr.; her daughters, Stephanie Edwards (Doug) and Felicia Hummel; former son-in-law, Steve Hummel; five grandchildren, Kyle Edwards (Amber Wright), Sarah Edwards (Nick Gebauer), Sean Edwards (Alexis Killinger), David Hummel (Nicole Barnhill) and Teresa Kirschbaum (Harrsion); and many nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, James V. Mercuri.
Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-7 P.M., Monday, June 20, 2016 where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 P.M.
