Funeral services celebrating the life of Joan McMahon Omlor, 79, of Granville, and formerly of Newark, will be held at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 7 P.M., Wednesday, May 29, 2024, with Fr. Marty Ralko as celebrant. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 4-7 P.M., prior to the service.  Private interment will be held in St. Jospeh Catholic Cemetery, Newark.

Joan died at Otterbein of Granville on Monday, May 13, 2024. She was born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio on September 20, 1944, to the late Robert and Josephine (McMahon) Jacobs.

A graduate of Mt. Vernon High School, Joan received her BA in Education from Kent State University and taught for 36 years in the Heath City School District. She was a member of the National Educators Association and the Ohio Educators Association.

Joan attended St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with her family for many years while in Newark, and most recently attended St. Edward the Confessor, Granville. She was a Licking Memorial Hospital volunteer serving over 18 years.

Joan is survived by her husband of 56 years, Daniel Omlor; daughters, Beth (Christopher) Gonzales and Jodi Omlor; 2 grandchildren, Evan and Katelyn Gonzales; brothers, James Jacobs and Jack (Teresa) Jacobs; several nieces and nephews; and the many students she taught throughout her 36-year career.
