Funeral services celebrating the life of Jim Redmond Jr., 60, of Newark, will be held at 12 Noon, Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest, as celebrant. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 6-8 P.M., Monday, March 20, 2017, and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Inurnment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.


Jim, a 1974 Lakewood High School graduate, died at Mt. Carmel East Hospital on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. He was born in Utica, New York on June 1, 1956 to the late James "Joseph" and Anita (Muniente) Redmond Sr.

Jim worked at the help desk with Value City Furniture for 19 years and was an avid fan of Nascar and the Lakewood High School Marching Band. For many years he helped his mother with the St. Francis Church Ministry of Comfort, and continued to do so following her death. He was a caretaker by nature, always helping family, friends, or strangers in need.

He is survived by his brother, Bill (Susan) Redmond of Newark; sisters, Susan (Randy) Embree of Thornville, and Joann Embree of Groveport; nieces and nephews, Todd (Tia), Brian (Allison), Ryan, Jason (Hannah), Jenn (Walt), Sara (Jami), Lindsey (Matt), and Marisa (Matt); great-nieces and nephews, Hailie, Collin, Vedder, Chelsea, Emerson, Mckenzie, Palmer, Remi, Braxton; God-daughter, Jennifer Lightle; longtime best friend, Tony Sobocinski; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Mike Embree.

The family requests that memorials in Jim's name be made to the Lakewood Marching Band, Hebron, Ohio, to help with the purchase of new instruments.
