Funeral services celebrating the life of Jerry D. Cotterman, 82, of Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 11 A.M., Wednesday, March 5, 2025, with Reverend Todd Tracy as celebrant. Interment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Friends and family may call at the funeral home, 4-7 P.M., Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
A member of Second Presbyterian Church, Jerry died at The Ohio State University Medical Center on Thursday, February 27, 2025. He was born in Zanesville, Ohio on August 9, 1942, to the late Harold Dale and Virginia Faye (Garrett) Cotterman.
Jerry was a graduate of Newark High School and served with the Ohio National Guard. He received his B.S. in Finance from The Ohio State University and worked for over 38 years at Park National Bank in commercial loans and mortgage lending. He was awarded a "key to the City of Newark" for his dedication and service to his community.
He was a member of Moundbuilders Country Club, Newark Moose, and longtime fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 59 years, Constance J. "Connie" (Myers) Cotterman; son, Jeff (Wendy) Cotterman; daughter, Deanna (Herk) Kashner; 9 grandchildren, Brooke (Dustin) McPherson, Brianne (Chris) Cotterman, Abby Cotterman (Alec Harrison), Ellie Cotterman (Justin Ricciardo), Cy Cotterman, Lauren (Joey) Guerra, Sydney Cotterman (Cristian Collins); Garrett Kashner and Will Kashner; 9 great-grandchildren (with another on the way), Grayson, Sawyer, Westin, and Savanna McPherson, Rowan Cotterman, Brynlee Harrison and Isabela Guerra; and Caleb and Gavin Gallagher .
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Michael Todd Cotterman; and great-grandson, Lane Henry McPherson.
