Obituary

A Funeral Mass for Jerome M. Blaine, 93, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Saturday, December 6, 2014, with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest, as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Jerome, a United States Army Air Corps WWII Veteran, died at his home on Tuesday, December 2, 2014. He was born in Staten Island, New York on October 14, 1921, the first of 14 children born to the late Jerome M. and Mary (Dicks) Blaine.

Jerome was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and was retired from the Newark Air Force Base where he worked as a protocol officer for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Emma (Miller) Gilbert Blaine, of the home; his children, Jerry (Noranne) Blaine, David (Sandra) Blaine, James (Carol) Blaine, Kathy (James) VanOstran, Elizabeth (Tab) Colbert, Robert Blaine, Joseph (Susan) Blaine, John (Stephanie) Blaine, and Kevin (Terri) Blaine; step-children, Ruth (Tom) Carson, Sarah (Jerry) Barker, Jennifer (Doug) Csubak, and James (Janelle) Gilbert; 30 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jerome was preceded by his first wife, Marjorie (Zotz) Blaine; his daughter, Rebecca Whitaker; and his grandson, Jason Blaine; step-daughter, Maureen Gilbert; and his step-grandsons, Joey Gilbert and Paul Leibrand.
