A Funeral Mass for Jeanette (Eagle) Mintz, 79, of Newark, will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 16, 2017, with Msgr. Paul Enke as celebrant.

Jeanette finished her earthly preparation for her heavenly home on Friday, May 12, 2017. She was met by her beloved Jesus and her best friend and husband Harry Mintz. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 14, 1938 to the Howard and Lucille (Schmitt) Eagle.

Jeanette is survived by her brother, Howard J. (Susan) Eagle; her daughter, Theresa (Richard) Allen; her grandson, Christopher (Kelly) Allen; great-grandchildren, Henry and Harper; and many nieces and nephews.

Jeanette spent her early childhood in Claire, Michigan then moved to Bay City, Michigan. She graduated from Visitation High School in 1956 and moved to Detroit where she worked for the New York Railroad.

Jeanette met her late husband Harry Mintz in 1957 and they were married at All Saints Church in Detroit, Michigan in 1960. They were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Theresa, in April 1961.

They moved to Granville, Ohio in 1962 and joined St. Edward Church where Jeanette taught in their CCD (religious education) program for twenty-five years and later taught an adult Bible study. As a member of the women's group she served as president for two years. She was also a member of the Fruit of the Vine prayer group and served on the pastoral team.

Jeanette was a volunteer for Heartbeats of Licking Co, for several years. After the death of her husband in 2008 she volunteered for Hospice of Central Ohio. They had helped care for her husband, Harry, when he became ill with ALS and she was impressed with what they do. She spent the rest of her life, as long as she was able, serving the sick and dying with Hospice of Central Ohio.

Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-7 P.M., Monday, May 15, 2017 where a Vigil Service will be held at 4 P.M.
