A Mass of Christian Burial for Jean J. Finkle, 93, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Friday, October 29, 2021, with Fr. Anthony Lonzo as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Jean died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio on Monday, October 25, 2021. She was born in Newark, Ohio on August 5, 1928, to the late Philip and Anita (Stewart) Hillbrant.
A graduate of Newark High School, Jean received her BA in English from Ohio University. She taught for a short time prior to marriage, and was retired from the Newark Air Force Base where she worked in Supply Accounts.
Jean was a longtime parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament and member of the Marian Club. She volunteered with the PIME Guild, working many ox roasts over the years. She also served as a substitute teacher at Blessed Sacrament Elementary School.
She is survived by her children, Roland Finkle, Arla Rabalais, Joseph (Dianna) Finkle, Thomas Finkle, John Finkle, and Susan (Andrew) Sourlis; 12 grandchildren, Bessie (Roger), Audrey, Abraham, Philip, Dominic (Tabitha), Aaron, Meaghan (Ryan), Amanda, Laura, Logan, Clay, and Caleb; 4 great-grandchildren, Baylon, Tristan, Sophia, and Keith; sister-in-law, Betty Finkle; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Joseph Finkle; son, Patrick Finkle; grandson, Daniel; son-in-law, Paul Rabalais; and sister, Jane (Tom) Rubeck.
Friends and family may call from 5-7 P.M., Thursday, October 28, 2021, at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 P.M.
