Jason Reed, 54, of Newark, passed away at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Sunday, August 25, 2024. He was born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio on January 20, 1970, to the late Gary Allen Reed and Tekka R. (Davis) Reed-Duncan.

A 1988 graduate of Lakewood High School and United States Navy Veteran, Jason was retired from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Licking & Perry Counties where he worked in office administration.

Jason was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, enjoyed caring for his saltwater and freshwater aquariums, and spending time with his family cruising the lake in their pontoon boat.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 25 years, Laura (Whyte) Reed; his children, Kai and Quinn Reed; half-sister, Jennifer Ramsey; step-brother, B.J.  (Jennifer) Hipkins; mother-in-law, Barbara (Buskey) Whyte; sister-in-law, Lisa (Jeremy) Davis; many aunts and uncles; several nieces and nephews; and his special canine companions Phineas and Pip.

In addition to his parents, Jason was preceded in death by his step-father, James Duncan.

Calling will be held at the funeral home, 4-6:30 P.M., Thursday, August 29, 2024. Military honors, provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance, will be held at 6:30 P.M., followed by remembrances shared by the family.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jonathan Wright, MD and the staff of The Ohio State Richard M Ross Heart Hospital for their exceptional care during his recent illness.
