A Funeral Mass for James Raymond Wade Sr., 89, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Saturday, December 3, 2016 with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Jim, a United States Army Korean Conflict Veteran, died at the SharonBrooke Assisted Living Center on Thursday, November 24, 2016. He was born in Newark, Ohio on August 16, 1927 to the late Raymond C. and Mary E. (Gilmore) Wade.

A lifelong parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Jim was a 1945 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dayton. He was employed for several years at Owens Corning Fiberglas, then at Tectum before returning to OCF. During his time with Owens, Jim became known as the problem solver and was credited with several different patents. Following retirement, Jim served as both a consultant and instructor at OCF and Varo Engineers.

Over the years, Jim was fortunate to visit to 6 different continents. He enjoyed the outdoors, and loved fishing. He embraced many hobbies, including woodworking, repairing clocks, baking potica, winemaking, and was a member of the National Orchid Society and Dawes Arboretum. Most of all, Jim was devoted to his family and cherished the time spent with them.

He his survived by his 6 children, James Raymond (Correne) Wade Jr., Daniel Wilson Wade, Jerome Mark (Wenderella) Wade, John Matthew (Debra DeVore) Wade, Laurie Catherine (Jack) Durham, and Sally Eulalia (Michael) Bell; 12 grandchildren, Emily Wade (Jamie Rinaldi), Jimmy (Emma) Wade, Daniel J. (Erika) Wade, Jeanine, Liliane, Anne and Thomas Wade, Jack, Annie and Will Durham, Sam and Sydney Bell; 2 great-grandchildren, James T. and Miles A. Wade; his sister-in-law Marie L. Wade; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine (Wilson) Wade, whom he married on July 24, 1954. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Charles B. and Richard T. Wade; his sister, Mary Martha Dunn; and his daughter-in-law, Diane Wade.

Friends and family may call from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M., Friday, December 2, 2016, at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 8:30 P.M.
