A  Funeral Service for James E. Simross, 83, of Newark, will be held at St. Leonard Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Thursday, May 1, 2014 with Fr. Michael Reis as celebrant.  Interment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.

James, a United States Army Korean War Veteran, died at the Autumn Healthcare Center on Sunday, April 27, 2014. He was born in Newark, Ohio on August 6, 1930 to the late Theodore W. and Treva S. (Nutter) Simross.

James worked for many years at Moore's Warehouse and was retired from the Newark Air Force Base where he worked as a technician.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth (Migiliozzi) Simross, of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Marlene (DeMark) and Randall Cooper of Rockbridge Baths, VA; his sister, Barbara Stansberry of Zanesville; and many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and William Simross; and nephews Terry and Jeff Simross.

Friends and family may call from 3-6 P.M., Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, Ohio, where military honors will be presented by the Licking County Veterans Alliance at 6 PM.
