James Maransky, 84, of Heath, died at his home surrounded by the love of his family on Sunday, December 6, 2020.  He was born in Mountain Springs, Pennsylvania on May 3, 1936, to the late Joseph and Genevieve (Potter) Maransky.

James, a United States Army Veteran, was the valedictorian of his Hughesville High School Class of 1954, and studied at Williamsport Technical Institute and Ft. Monmouth, N.J.  He retired from the engineering department at the Newark Air Force Base in 1991, following 32 years of service.

He received the Presidential Service Award for setting up and maintaining communications for the President of the United States, serving under Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower and John F. Kennedy.

James was very handy and often helped his friends and neighbors with projects.  He enjoyed to spend a little time on the golf course, making a hole in one while enjoying a round with his son at Willow Run Golf Course in 2009.

He loved his family and will be greatly missed by his wife of 63 years, Sandra (Speary) Maransky; son, Jeffery (Cheryl) Maransky; granddaughter, Lauren (Michael) DiBenedetto; and great-granddaughter, Harper; his nephew and several nieces.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sisters, Marian (John) Rebo and Joan Gray.

Memorial services celebrating James will be held at a later date.  Inurnment will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville, Pennsylvania.

The family requests memorials in James name be made to the foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box, 430, Newark, Ohio 43058; or to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, where James was a member, 732 Hebron Road, Heath, Ohio 43056.
