Funeral services celebrating the life of James Alan Leslie, 79, of Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 30, 2018 with Rev. Mark Ghiloni and Deacon Bob Ghiloni as celebrants. Inurnment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.

Jim, a 1958 graduate of Newark High School, died at his home on Sunday, November 25, 2018. He was born in Newark, Ohio on November 3, 1939 to the late Harold and Bonnilee (Priest) Leslie.

Following graduation, Jim attended The Ohio State University, Newark and also completed the Ohio State Highway Patrol course. He served as a patrolman for 5 years in Norwalk before returning to Newark. Jim was also the owner/operator of Valet Cleaners and worked for many years in maintenance at Friendship Village and Moundbuilders Guidance Center.

Jim was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling with friends to various courses, and worked for a period of time at Longaberger Golf Course.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pat (Montanaro) Leslie; his children, James (Caren) Leslie, Kelli (Craig) Woycke, and Anna Leslie; 3 grandchildren, Addison and Blake Leslie, and Kyle David; his sister, Nancy McFarland; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Bibart; and his grandson, Joshua.

Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 4-7 PM Thursday, November 29, 2018.
