A Funeral Mass for James Martin Greenwald, 81, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, October 28, 2014, with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Jim, a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio on Thursday, October 23, 2014. He was born in Newark, Ohio on February 21, 1933 to the late Edward and Agnes (Schonhofen) Greenwald.
Following his graduation from St. Francis de Sales High School, Jim joined the United States Marine Corps. Upon his return home, Jim worked for Burt Gold Club. He eventually retired from Rockwell where he worked for many years.
Jim enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, and building remote controlled helicopters.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Debbie Greenwald of Utica; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Louis Clark of Junction City, and Jeannette and William Clark of Newark; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Wave Greenwald; sisters and brothers-in-law, Loretta and Roger Boggs, and Mary and Thomas Bruah, all of Newark; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph and Robert; and his sister, Ann Victor.
Friends and family may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M., Monday, October 27, 2014 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Rosary Service will be held at 7:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Utica Volunteer Fire Department, 22 Spring Street, Utica, Ohio 43080.
