Funeral services celebrating the life of James Thomas Dye, 75, of Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 11 A.M. Monday, August 6, 2018, with Chaplain Joanna Samuelson and Rev. G. Michael Gribble as celebrants. Interment will follow at St. Jospeh Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Jim, a United States Air Force Veteran, died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio on Friday, August 3, 2018. He was born in Newark, Ohio on April 3, 1943 to the late Charles and Rita Elizabeth (Hohl) Dye.

Jim attended St. Francis de Sales School and retired in 2005 after working 40 years in the transportation field with Suburban Motor Freight, Transcon Motor Freight, and Mid-State Systems. He served on the Newark Catholic Athletic Association and on the Board of Directors for Camp Nelson Dodd. Over the years he volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America, YMCA Indian Guides, coached the Fiberglas little league baseball team at Mound City and was a host parent for the Babe Ruth World Series in 1978 and 1979.

He is survived by his wife, Chyrel (Drumm) Dye; his children, Michael Dye, Craig Dye (Wendy Stolzenbach), Jennifer (Keith) Wise, and Stacy Wallace; step-son, Troy Hottle (Jill Richey); grandchildren, Megan Dye, Courtney (Ryan) Redman, AJ Wise, Emily Wallace, Ayden Wallace, Trey Hottle, Alison Hottle, Katelynn Hottle, and Hope Riebel; great-granddaughter, Kynlee Redman; sister, Connie (Don) Moran; sister-in-law, Paula Drumm (Roy Wisner); and many nieces and nephews, especially Tiffany (Justin) Rine; Kenzlie and Olivia; and Travis (Fallon) Drumm.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Craig Wise; and his brother-in-law, Robin Drumm.

Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 2-5 P.M. Sunday, August 5, 2018, and for one hour prior to the service on Monday.
