A Funeral Mass for James W. "Jimmie" Brown, 74, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Friday, September 12, 2014, with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Jim died at the Zusman Hospice Center of The OSU Wexner Medical Center on Monday, September 8, 2014. He was born in Newark, Ohio on May 14, 1940 to the late James N. and Ann P. (Massaro) Brown.

Jim, a 1959 graduate of Newark Catholic High School, served with the Ohio National Guard and was a member of the American Legion. He worked as a photographer for many years and was the owner and operator of Jimmie Brown Studio 1. He also worked at Roper and was a member of the Teamsters Local 637.

Jim was a lifetime parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where he served as an usher for many years and was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 721. He was also a longtime member of the Sons of Italy Rinascimento Lodge and worked for many years with his parents on the PIME Ox Roasts. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid euchre player.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Jo Ann Swank, J. Scott Brown, Jeffrey M. and Terri Brown, Jane M. and Bob Neal, John C. Brown, Jennifer and John Swisher, and Kathryn Brown; 10 grandchildren, Alex, Ryan, Zachary, Austin, Sean, Julia, Mackenzie, Abbey, Kayla, and Reagan; 2 great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Jewell; his brother and sister-in-law, Michael P. and Donna Brown; his sister and brother-in-law, Patty and Ed Thagard; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Dianne Kanuch.

Friends and family may call from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M., Thursday, September 11, 2014 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where the Sons of Italy will hold a service at 6:45 P.M., and a Vigil Service will be held at 8:30 P.M.
