A Mass of Christian Burial for James Albert Adams, 89, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 5, 2025, with Fr. Anthony Lonzo as celebrant. Interment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Calling will be held at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

James died at the Newark Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, May 22, 2025. He was born in Newark, Ohio on September 25, 1935, to the late Ernest S. and Mary L. (Hornyak) Sr.

A parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church, James served with the United States Army and the National Guard. He retired from Universal Veneer and was a member of the Newark Druids and Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his granddaughter, Shannon (Edward) English, and her family.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Doris A. (Huffman) Adams; daughter, Lisa Adams; step-son, Dan Sturman; and brother, Ernest Adams Jr.
