A Funeral Mass for John David Ralston, 75, of Newark, will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 6, 2016 with Msgr. Paul Enke as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Dave, a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, died at the SharonBrooke Senior Living Center on Friday, July 1, 2016. He was born in Newark, Ohio on September 28, 1940 to the late Frank B. and C. Jean (Davis) Ralston.

Dave was a 1958 graduate of Xavier High School and received his MA in classical languages from Loyola University Chicago in 1968. He retired in 2004 from Xavier University where he worked 15 years in Admissions and was then the Director of Enrollment Research for another 15 years.

Dave was a dedicated Xavier University Basketball fan and had his own reserved seat at the Cintas Center while employed at Xavier. He loved to vacation in Ft. Myers, Florida and enjoyed deep sea fishing. He also had an interest in ham radio operations.

He is survived by his sister, Pat (Mitch) Finney; nephews, Kevin (Ashley) Finney and Keith (Amanda) Finney, his niece, Kelli Finney; and 4 great nieces and 2 great nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his brother, James Ralston.

Friends and family may call from 6-8 P.M., Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark where a Vigil Service will be held at 6 P.M.

The family would like to thank SharonBrooke for making Dave's last year a very enjoyable one. He loved the employees and knew many of the residents by name. He especially enjoyed playing bingo and the "Lunch Bunch".
