A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Howard "Sam" Ebersbach Jr., 84, of Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 8 P.M., Thursday, July 21, 2016, with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest, as celebrant. Calling hours will begin at 6 P.M. with a Masonic Service held at 7:30 P.M. prior to the funeral service. Inurnment will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Sam died at the Flint Ridge Care Center on Tuesday, July 19, 2016. He was born in Pomeroy, Ohio on January 29, 1932 to the late Howard S. and Ruth (Williams) Ebersbach Sr.
Sam, and avid hunter and outdoorsman, worked for many years at Kaiser Aluminum and Anheuser Busch. He was a member of the Somerset Masonic Lodge 76 for over 50 years.
Sam is survived by his wife of 47 years, Paula (Gallagher) Ebersbach; children, Michael (Debra) Ebersbach of Baltimore, OH; Teri Ann Ebersbach of Lancaster, OH, and Keith Ebersbach of Columbus, OH; five grandchildren, James, Melissa, Athena, Alissa, and Amber; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Sally) Ebersbach of Syracuse, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Ebersbach; and sister, Louanna Wilcox.
