Funeral services celebrating the life of Herbert Griffith, 86, of Newark, will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Family of Faith Community Church, 975 Mt. Vernon Road, Newark.  Interment will follow in Neuhart Cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio.  Friends and family may call at the church for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Herbert, a United States Army Veteran, died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Saturday, December 25, 2021. He was born in Woodsfield, Ohio on March 17, 1935, to the late James Frank and Stella (Jackson) Griffith.

A graduate of Woodsfield High School, Herbert worked for many years as a truck driver and was a member of the Family of Faith Community Church.  He was an outdoorsman, enjoying gardening and fishing, and also did carpentry work.

Herbert is survived by his children and their spouses, Glenna (John) Fessel and Scott Griffith; 4 grandchildren, Shawnna (Joshua) Snyder, Christi Tillett, Janet (Justin) Taylor, and Daniel Fessel; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ethel Alexander, Rosemary Dick, and Lawrence "Gene" (Rita) Griffith; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Herbert was preceded in death by his wife, Lorna Mae Griffith; and brothers-in-law, Louis Alexander and Paul Dick.
