Helen Barbara
Delaney
Jan 8, 1929 — May 4, 2022
A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen Barbara Delaney, 93, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Saturday, May 14, 2022, with Rev. JCP Sullivan as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Helen, a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. She was born in Mt. Union, Pennsylvania on January 8, 1929, to the late Wasyl and Anna (Sidor) Hubitsky.
Helen was retired from the NAFB where she worked in clean room 7 for many years. She enjoyed crafting of all types, especially crocheting, knitting, and tatting. Helen also embodied great patience and skill as a master of scherenschnitte, a German art created with intricate paper cutting. Her hand-crafted paper nativity is truly a work of art. Over the years Helen created angels for individuals with cancer, praying for each of them by name as she worked.
As a devout Catholic, Helen started each day praying the Rosary for someone she thought could use the Blessed Mother's intercession.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Kenneth Grubaugh, and Debra and Randy Poling, all of Newark; grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy and Julie Miller, and Michael and Denise Miller; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Josh, Nate, Mackenzie, and Matthew Miller; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Chauncey, whom she married on July 1, 1950 at St. Catherine Church in Mount Union; and her siblings, John (Adelene) Hubitsky and Marian (Nelson) Lenhart.
Friends and family may call from 5-8 P.M., Friday, May 13, 2022 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Rosary Service will be held at 7:30 P.M.
The family requests memorials in Helen's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
